Hi Everyone, Delia here:
Richard and Sandra: City: Lavaur, France ( speaking of the yarn, soap, lotion and pattern sent to them)
We have never been caressed by angels, feeling unique and exceptional. An expression of childhood emerges from our emotions, especially with the scented soaps that came in the package. Memories of our childhood and Provence.
You can feel the love in construction, the journey of men and women who have built their ideas to reach perfection. Finding the right words for our emotions is tricky, so we sense the subtleties, the art of hand and mind together! I will say these are divine patterns. Thank you, thank you again, Delia. Hello Kimberly
Then, you could see the babies as well, which is always a treat. We are considering getting our own dehairing machine, so that might be an added point of interest for a group visit. That would not be delivered and operational until April or later.
As to hardiness, you would be hard pressed to ever find a goat more adapted to the NW climate. Their cashmere keeps them toasty warm and once you feel that cashmere in your hands, you will be spoiled! Incredibly light, fine and oh so warm. I bury my hands in it in the Winter when outside to warm them up before putting the gloves back on which never seem warm enough:-) Health problems are practically non existent with these animals and they are wonderful mothers.
They are a good dual purpose goat: fiber and meat. Last year, we were discovered by an ethnic market and they love these goats for meat. Also, because of interest in cuts of meat instead of buying an entire goat, and the requirement to have meat processed USDA if you sell cuts to the public, we had our first goat processed USDA to determine the cost per lb. We also tried several different methods of cooking. Oh my gosh......why is it that there is such a stereotype about eating goat meat?! We tried it smoked, which was so wonderful no one bothered to leave the smoker in the middle of a rainstorm to go inside to eat it - just sliced it off where they stood as if someone was going to beat them to the next cut...! We also tried it with Ethiopian spices and that was absolutely wonderful. We have had it in stew meat, etc. Lower in cholesterol than chicken and wonderful flavor. Finer grain, red, and tastes a lot like beef only with a more intense beef flavor.
If there is any off flavor, it is in the fat. As long as fat is removed, absolutely no off flavor. Would suggest if processed to have them not include fat in the ground meat.
Well, as you can see, I am a bit sold on these cashmeres! Anyway, please come anytime and enjoy Ravenwood with us:-)
