Soap FAQ

Why Goat Milk Soap?

Milk has been used in skin care products since Biblical times. Cleopatra reportedly bathed in it. Why? Goat milk has a very low pH level that is close to our own skin. It does not strip natural oils, leaving skin balanced and healthy. Goat milk contains alpha-hydroxy acids.

The molecular structure of proteins and triglycerides in goat milk differ from other kinds of milk. The molecular strands are shorter and may be more easily absorbed.

Goat Milk is naturally anti-inflammatory and contains Vitamins A, B6, B12 and E. Goat milk soap is good for dry, aging or sensitive skin and often used by people who suffer from psoriasis and eczema. Unscented, uncolored soap is suggested for babies

What else is in this Goat Milk Soap?

Our basic goat milk soap is made with food grade vegetable oils: Palm Oil, Olive Oil, Coconut Oil is mixed with 100% pasteurized goat milk that replaces water generally called for in recipes. So mixed, the soap is super fatted and retains natural glycerin that is often removed from commercial soap to be sold as a secondary product. Glycerin is a moisture attractant.

We use natural essential oils and fragrance oils for scent, spices and mineral pigments for coloring, poppy seeds, loofa, cornmeal or oatmeal for exfoliation.

How is it made?

Our goat milk soaps are handmade using a cold process method and left to cure and harden for 3-4 weeks. The mix is colored and scented by hand. All bars are cut and trimmed by hand. Because of this, there may be slight variations in size, shape and color.

Why did I start making it?

Having been an outdoor person all my life my skin has suffered a lot of skin damage. That, combined with age ( I am now in my 60s), and living in a dry climate, has left me with very dry skin that soaks up lotions used several times a day. In spite of that lotion use, I had very dry and flaky skin.
Inadvertently, I bought a bar of goat milk soap while on a trip. After a couple of weeks use, I noticed my skin was not as dry as it had been. I decided to research reasons for this difference and experimented in making my own goat milk soap. My entire family loves these soaps, so do our friends and business associates -and so the business was born. We will never go back to commercial soaps that act like detergents on our skin.
